3 Days in Kingston & Belleville — An Eastern Ontario Golf Weekend

📍 Kingston & Belleville, Ontario

3 Days$$long-weekendbudgetbuddies-trip

A laid-back, great-value golf weekend in Eastern Ontario — built around the drive, since this is a road-trip destination with no major airport nearby. Tee it up at scenic Smugglers Glen right by the border, make the trip over to Black Bear Ridge (one of Canada's top public courses), and base yourself in downtown Kingston for the kind of nights out the city is made for. Brunch at Morrison's, beers at the Toucan, and a easy 18 on the way home.

Day-by-Day

Day
1
Day 1 — Roll In + First Round
🚗 This is a drive-to destination — no major airport nearby (Ottawa is about 2 hours away). Most crews roll in by car
🏨 Base yourself in downtown Kingston — the Holiday Inn is right downtown and super convenient, or grab an Airbnb out on the lake
Coming from the northeast US or east of Kingston: play Smugglers Glen in Gananoque in the early afternoon — it's right over the border from Alexandria Bay and a perfect, scenic start to the trip
Coming from the west: play Timber Ridge in Brighton instead — it's right on the way into the Belleville/Kingston area
🍺 After the round, head into Kingston for dinner downtown, then hit the Toucan or the Brass for a fun night out
💡 Time your first round around your drive — Smugglers Glen for the eastbound crew, Timber Ridge for the westbound. Either way you'll be in downtown Kingston by dinner, which is where the night really happens.

Day 2 — Black Bear Ridge
🥪 Ease into the day with brunch at Morrison's — the move after a big night in Kingston
🚗 Make the drive over to Belleville (about an hour west)
Play Black Bear Ridge — the headline course of the region and one of Canada's top public tracks. Worth the drive on its own
Got 36 in you? Add Trillium Wood or the Bay of Quinte North Course nearby to make it a full day
🍺 Head back into Kingston for round two of the nighttime fun
💡 Black Bear Ridge is the must-play — build the day around it. If the crew has 36 in them, Trillium Wood and Bay of Quinte are minutes away; if not, one lap at Black Bear Ridge and an easy afternoon back in Kingston is a perfectly good call.
Day
3
Day 3 — One Last Round on the Way Home
Driving back east or to the US? Finish with Smugglers Glen again — it's right by the border and a scenic way to end the trip without adding any driving time
Heading west? Play Loyalist on the way out instead — a Ted Baker design in Bath that's right on your route home
🚗 Then point the car home — an easy, golf-filled weekend in the books
💡 Pick your closer by your drive home: Smugglers Glen sends the eastbound crew off on a high right by the border, and Loyalist is a perfect westbound send-off. No backtracking either way.
