Itinerary

5 Days at Bandon Dunes — Every Course on the Property

📍 Bandon Dunes, Oregon

5 Days$$$weekbucket-listbuddies-trip

Golf as it was meant to be — on foot, with a caddie, on the wild Oregon coast — and every course on the property over five days. The five world-top-100 links (Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Old Macdonald, Sheep Ranch, Bandon Trails) plus the Preserve and Shorty's short courses. No carts, no homes, no distractions — just the dunes, the wind, your crew, and one last big night before you fly home.

Day-by-Day

Day
1
Arrive + The Preserve
✈️ Fly into North Bend (OTH) — 30 minutes north — or Eugene/Portland and make the scenic coastal drive
🏨 Check into the Lodge or the Inn — everything is walkable or a quick shuttle
Afternoon: Bandon Preserve — the 13-hole par-3 course by Coore & Crenshaw with ocean views on every hole. Proceeds fund the Wild Rivers Coast conservancy
🍺 Putt the Punchbowl, then settle in at McKee's Pub for the first of many
💡 Bandon is walking-only. Book caddies for every round when you reserve — they read the wind and the firm ground better than any yardage book, and they make the long days easier.
Day
2
Bandon Dunes + Pacific Dunes — 36
Morning: Bandon Dunes — the original, David McLay Kidd's 1999 course that started it all. Clifftop holes high above the Pacific
🥪 Lunch in the clubhouse between loops
Afternoon: Pacific Dunes — Tom Doak's masterpiece, regularly ranked the best of the bunch. Tumbling, natural, and routed right along the bluff's edge
🥃 Dinner and drinks at the Gallery or McKee's — compare scorecards and blisters
💡 Two of the world's best links in one day is the Bandon way. Pack a light rain shell and an extra glove — the Oregon coast does what it wants, and a damp grip on the back nine is the only thing that'll slow you down.
Day
3
Old Macdonald + Sheep Ranch — 36
Morning: Old Macdonald — Doak and Jim Urbina's tribute to C.B. Macdonald, all enormous greens and template holes. The widest, most strategic canvas on property
🥪 Quick lunch, then a short shuttle to the northern bluff
Afternoon: Sheep Ranch — Coore & Crenshaw's bunkerless stunner with nine greens perched on the cliff's edge above the Pacific. The most exposed, most dramatic round at Bandon
🌅 Sunset over the ocean from the Sheep Ranch bluff — time it right
💡 Sheep Ranch has no bunkers and no defined edges — it's all about the wind and the cliff. Play away from the ocean side on the exposed holes unless your ball-striking is on; the Pacific doesn't give them back.
Day
4
Bandon Trails + Shorty's + The Big Night
Morning: Bandon Trails — the one that leaves the coast, winding through forest, meadow, and inland dunes. Coore & Crenshaw's quiet favorite, and many leave calling it the best of the lot
🥪 Lunch back at the clubhouse
Afternoon: Shorty's Course — the resort's newest short course, a laid-back loop named for a longtime caddie. Wedges, putters, and a beer in hand — the perfect loose finale to a week of links golf
🍺 One last big night — McKee's Pub, the Bunker Bar, and the resort's watering holes. Toast the trip with the crew
💡 Shorty's is pure fun — play it loose, club down, and don't keep score. Then make the most of your last night; you've walked 100+ holes by now and earned every pour.
Day
5
Leave in the Morning
🛌 Slow morning — recover from the night before with coffee and a big breakfast at the Lodge
🍵 Optional last putt on the Punchbowl and one final look out over the dunes
✈️ Shuttle to OTH and fly out
💡 No round on getaway day — just a slow morning, a last look at the Pacific, and the long-standing certainty that you'll be back. Bandon is a place you book the return trip to before you've even left.
