Sand Hollow Resort — Championship Course
John Fought design through dramatic red-rock and black lava terrain — arguably Utah's best public golf experience.

Utah's golf secret — St. George sits at the meeting point of the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau, producing jaw-dropping red-rock scenery that makes every round feel otherworldly. Add Snow Canyon State Park next door and Zion National Park an hour away, and this is a desert golf trip that competes with anywhere.
Desert golf that barely looks real. Black Desert hosts tour events and, if you can swing it, is a great place to stay all week. The other must-plays are Copper Rock, Sand Hollow, and Coral Canyon. Copper Rock is so pure from start to finish, and has an ideal ace hole on the 17th (me and all my friends didn't come anywhere close after being convinced one of us would ace. Classic). Sand Hollow holes 12–15 are unlike anything you will ever play — the most memorable 4-hole stretch I have played, no doubt. Coral Canyon was the biggest surprise of our trip. We played it in the afternoon for less than $100 and, in terms of pure value, it was easily the best. What a track.
Sky Mountain is a bit meh as a course but has even more surreal views — a good one for a group scramble, in my opinion, then play your own ball at the other four. The Ledges was OK, but we felt it was pretty overpriced for what it is.
